Melbourne to Sydney and return to Melbourne - Road TripCountry forums / Australia, New Zealand & Antarctica / Australia
Hi guys, I'm Liza and I'm from Malaysia. I be traveling to Australia in September this year (2016). I plan road trip Melbourne to Sydney and return to Melbourne. I got 12 days to explore Sydney and Melbourne. love outback and beaches. Can you guys give me ideas for itinerary. Need your help. Thank you.
Do you mean you will have 12 days in just Sydney and Melbourne? Or do you intend to leave the cities and travel in Australia? There is no desert between Sydney and Melbourne. For desert you could take the NSW Trainlink train to Broken Hill and have day trips from there, after which travel down to Melbourne or Adelaide. | 1
With the current rate of the MYR and the AUD, it will be a very expensive thing to rent a car. | 2
On the Budget Car Rental website, it asks you in which country do you live, I put in Malaysia, and age above 25, for test dates I put in 17 to 24 Mar, it came back for a small economy Nissan Micra with Aud$246.99, thats pure rental, plus fees and insurance charges, it will be more. | 3
raliza - Australia is a lot bigger than Malaysia (I know, I've spent 6 months travelling around Malaysia). If you've only got 12 days in total for Australia I'd just split them up between Melbourne and Sydney if I were you. Do day trips to more rural areas. | 4
Hi there, Yes, i will travel 12 days in Australia. I already bought flight ticket to Melbourne. | 5
Thanks. after read your commend , I decide to cover Melbourne only. I went to Sydney before so maybe the best way just recover Melbourne only. Do you have any idea for Melbourne road trip. My plan is 6 - 8 days to road trip and 4 days to recover Melbourne city. | 6
I will travel with another 3 friends. Its quite expensive but if share should be okay. But I don't have any idea except Great ocean road. Do you have any idea? | 7
Hi Julie, Yes, I decide to explore Melbourne only. Thanks =) | 8
Why not head up to Wangaratta or Albury via Sale. I haven't done all of this myself but there is a road that you can take that will take you via the mountains and small quaint towns. Plenty of places to stop - the town of Bright would be a nice place to stop. This would be quite different to anything you have in Malaysia. | 9
