Meeting at Ho Chi Minh airport

Hi,
I am due to meet a friend at Ho Chi Minh international airport. We are both arriving on the same day a few hours apart. Is there anywhere suitable for waiting near arrivals in the airport itself?

There is a cafe/restaurant building that is situated on it's own, in the middle of the car parking area in front of the terminal buildings (about 100yds from the International Terminal). It's not the nicest place to spend a few hours but it's probably your best bet inside the airport complex. There's not much to offer within the terminal buildings themselves.

they also have a restaurant inside of the terminal have wifi free.

Saigon airport does not have a lot going on. Taxis into town are cheap. Given that, you may want to head into town and pick a prominent landmark to meet up.

Some places which spring to mind are:
- lobby of Sheraton Hotel
- food court of Diamond Plaza
- steps outside central post office, opposite Notre Dame cathedral

Mike_M - that restaurant has now closed (they park motorbikes inside inside it now!). The restaurant moved into the ground floor of the domestic building - as that restaurant moved inside.....

So basically, the restaurant to wait is in the domestic terminal, ground floor - enter from outside between the departure and arrivals section. a 5 minute walk from the international terminal.

With a few hours to spare, I'd still head for town, it's like USD 7.00 in a taxi and almost any place must be better than the airport restaurant (though I admit I haven't been since it moved).

Hanno - the new restaurant is MUCH better than the old one (which wasn't hard, because the old one was crap), but I agree with your comment to head downtown if there is time.

I will try it, though I usually try and avoid airport restaurants. But as you said: it can absolutely not be worse than the old one:-))
