Marrakech Market Open Week After Eid Al-Adha?Country forums / Africa / Morocco
I am traveling to Morocco, and I'll be in Marrakech from September 15th to 19th. This year's Eid Al-Adha is on September 11th. All the sources I've read suggest the holiday will be over by the time I arrive, but one Moroccan woman told me that the Djemaa el-Fna market will be closed the entire week of my visit. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm really looking forward to the market, and haven't heard from anywhere else that it's closed the whole week following the holiday. Thanks!
....... "but one Moroccan woman told me that the Djemaa el-Fna market will be closed the entire week of my visit." "Does anyone know if this is true?".... its Marrakech and Morocco..... who knows what's true.! Most of the guys working in the Souks and Djemma el Fna are from mountain communities surrounding Marrakech, travelling home for the Big Eid..... at times slow to get back to work, arriving in dribs and drabs over a few days, business gets back to normal eventually. Eid falls on Sunday, it's unlikely they'll take a full week off, the pressures of domestic life is sure to drive them back to work within three days, so by Thursday "normal" levels of business should be resumed. | 1
........ to complicate your itinerary further, Eid al Adha will be celebrated a day latter than expected on Monday the 12th. September. Morocco is full of surprises....... | 2
