Lunch and dinner options for FoodiesCountry forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Laos
aside from Khop Chai Deu and Makphet, what are our other options for affordable Lao or Asian Fusion food or anything interesting place to check out in Vientiene? Thanks
If you want to try some real Lao food, maybe visiting the market behind the old national stadium is an option? It's named Talat sii loi ha siep pii (sie loi ha siep pii means 450 years). There are a lot of places to eat in Vientiane.Different kithens: Lao, Thai, Chines, Indian, French etc. etc. A good Indian restaurant: Taj Mahal (behind the Cultural Hall). Enjoy your time there! | 1

One of my favourite places to eat is at Full Moon in Rue Francois Ngin at the Mekong River end opposite Great Western Hotel .Nice Asian Western fusion. I've been eating there since 2003. | 3
As #1 - the nightly lao food market on Khoun Boulom, near the intersection with Chou Anou Rd and near the Chou Annavong stadium is one of the best places near the city centre. Cheap and authentic. | 4
Nabanga: Nice to read your 'confirmation'. When I'm in Vientiane I go there most of the times and get my Lao food for a normal price. Some people recognize me, even if I left the city for a month. | 5
Good Fusion food, check out Friend de Cafe. Good all around food check out Moon The Night overlooking the Mekong River and into Thailand. | 6
Khambang on Koun Bouloum for Lao food. For fusion, I don't recall the name but there's a nice fusion place in the new Paris-style hotel complex at the Friendship Bridge. | 7
Oh, and I forgot Don Chan Palace. Strange and distasteful as the building is, the restaurant on the top floor can be amazing. | 8
