Looking for a fellow traveller for Tibet - Kathmandu Oct. 6 - 13, 2010

Country forums / North-East Asia / Tibet

Hi,

I'm looking for a fellow traveller for my trip from Lhasa to Kathmandu. I will come to Lhasa by train on Oct. 5th, starting my tour with 2 days in Lhasa the next day. I booked a 4WD with a guide and driver. The schedule is the following:

Oct. 6 Sightseeing Lhasa (Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potala, Norbulinkha)
Oct. 7 Sightseeing Lhasa (Drepung monastery, Sera monastery, Tibet medical centre - maybe I will change the last one)
Oct. 8 Lhasa - Gyantse
Oct. 9 Gyantse - Shigatse (Tashilungpu, Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery, Gyantse Dzong)
Oct. 10 Shigatse - Xegar
Oct. 11 Xegar - Everest Base Camp (staying at Hotel Everest View)
Oct. 12 EBC - Zhangmu
Oct. 13 Zhangmu - Kathmandu

So far, Sakya monastery is not included in this trip, but I'm thinking about adding this. It costs a little more.

I will stay in midrange hotels which are booked by my travel agent.

I'm 42 years old, female and German.

Let me know if you are interested...

Hi there!
I'm an Aussie traveler and I am also looking to take the train to Lhasa and then take a tour from Lhasa to Kathmandu around the same time as you. So I am also looking to join a tour to reduce costs.

I have a few questions for you...I have read that it is almost impossible to get a train ticket in the first week of October because it is Chinese holiday time. Do you know anything about this because this is also the time I want to take the train. Also, where are you taking the train from? I am thinking of going to Zhongdian or Chongqing to book a ticket.

Other than that, about how much do you think your tour will cost and who are you taking it with?

Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing more!
Michelle
