Local Bus 22 from Inezgane to Al Massira Airport?

Country forums / Africa / Morocco

Hello!
I've just been looking at the website for Agadir Al Massira Airport.
http://www.agadir-airport.com/en/getting_there.php (getting there)

I found this:
"Local bus number 22 leaves from the main road, a short walk outside the airport terminal.
It does not go to Agadir itself, but to Inezgane. This town, more or less a suburb of Agadir, serves as the main transport hub in the area.
The bus ride from the airport to Inezgane costs 4 dirham. The last bus leaves the airport at 8:30pm."

I am familiar with taking a shared taxi from Taroudant to Inezgane; done it countless times; cost 29 Dirhams not so long ago.

But I have questions.

  1. Since there is a local bus from close to the airport to Inezgane, I think it is safe to assume that I can get the same local bus 22 from Inezgane to the airport. But is that a good idea?
  2. At Inezgane would there also be a shared grand taxi going to the airport? It seems likely, but does any one of you know for sure that there is?

I think I would rather do this than be the only passenger in a taxi taking me from Taroudant to the airport at a cost of probably 400 Dirhams.

Your thoughts please.

And Thanks!
David/Daoud

I have done it myself a few years ago, it is quite easy even with a large backpack, the route of bus 22 between the airport and Inezgane overlaps the routes of buses 20, 24 and 28 between Inezgane and Agadir so just ask the driver or conductor where is a good spot to transfer buses, you will need a bit French (or Arabic) to make yourself understood but otherwise no problem.

Marka55, are you saying that local bus 22 does Not go directly from Inezgane to the airport?
If that is true, it's good I learn about it now.
My trip to Canada is not until middle of June.
Thanks!

....... Hi David, to start of with, the 22 bus doesn't go near the Airport, its the 37 bus you need.

see these.....
http://www.alsa.ma/pdf/Horaires-Transport-Periurbain-agadir.pdf (find the 37)
and ... http://www.alsa.ma/pdf/Horaires-Transport-Urbain-agadir.pdf (see the 22, doesn't pass the Airport)
and fiddling about with the arrows see the route.... http://www.alsa.ma/en/agadir

There isn't a scheduled shared taxi service to/from the Airport and the taxi plazas of either Inezgane or Agadir that I could find, its also outside the range of the city petite taxis,

The Airport is on the P1714 road, its not a busy taxi route outside of the Airport traffic, so tourists are stitched up a bit, so the hourly No.37 bus is the cheapest, however its a good walk from the main road to the arrivals/departures hall if hauling heavy luggage..... bit like the walk from the Palais Salam to the end of Ave. Moulay Richid in Taroudannt..... https://www.google.ie/maps/place/Taroudant,+Morocco/@30.4728924,-8.8748609,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0xdb17309901e7a19:0x9b0fdf4f4b50237a

and the Airport, https://www.google.ie/maps/@30.3561674,-9.4739914,13z .... remember there are two Airports in the Agadir area, (study map), the old Airport is now a military air dome near Inezgane with the bigger Al Massira farther East.

...... I'd suggest a day trip to Agadir/Inezgane some day and do a rehearsal/dry-run, without luggage and under no pressure it could also be a nice day-out.

Hi Moroccotraveler,
I will forget about using any local bus; can't take the chance at the beginning of such an important day, June 15th. The end of it should have me at a hotel in Montreal, Canada, near the airport.

I will instead take the usual shared taxi from Taroudant to Inezgane. From there I will take a private grande taxi to the airport as advised by Professor Sparrow on Trip Advisor for about 150 Dirhams.
Can I be sure this is possible?

Either that or I will take a private taxi all the way from Taroudant. My flight to Casa does not depart until 1:50pm, so I should have no problem reaching the airport with plenty of time to spare.

..... do as I do when travelling to the Airport from Taroudannt, arrange a taxi in Taroudannt, it usually costs me 250Mad, quicker and more easily arranged than the frantic Inezgane. The taxi marshal given a bit of notice can do it, or if you know a local driver in you neighbourhood.

Moroccotraveler, I will walk down to Bab Zorgane (La Place) today, and have a chat with the taxi marshall. I will ask about the cost and ask if I can be picked up at my home. I'm sure this is what I must do, and the difference in cost is well worth it.
Thanks so much for your help.

I would do the same, ordering taxi to pick up me and take to airport.

Thanks, Khamlia! ♥

#2 What I was saying is that there is more thant a kilometre of road in Inezgane where both the bus to the airport and the buses to Agadir run along, this being Morocco the bus stops are less than clearly marked so the best thing to do is ask the driver or conductor where to switch. As I said it was several years ago when it was the 22 but it is quite possible that it is now the 37, as this being Morocco nobody has probably updated the airport website.

I will try to contact the administrators of the airport website and ask them to check on the # of the local bus which goes from near the airport to Inezgane.

As it stands, I have today made arrangements to have a taxi pick me up at my home and drive me to the airport at a cost of 300 Dirhams. I even have the driver's phone number added to my cell phone!
