Leticia/Tabatinga to Manaus in early June

My boyfriend and I are in Colombia now and need to be in Manaus by 14th June for a world cup game. We plan to fly from Bogota to Leticia and take a boat from Tabatinga to Manaus, but we are struggling to get the information we need about when the boats depart (since we need to be in Manaus by a specific date) and have read different things on different websites. We have found information about people´s previous trips, but we really need specific information for right now.

Our current plan is to allow a few extra days and arrive in Leticia around 5th June and hopefully get ourselves on a slow boat after a couple of days, but it would be great to get more accurate information, especially from someone who is in Leticia or Tabatinga. We are also trying to look in to a faster boat but don´t have much information about this either.

Any help would be much appreciated!

That won't be any problem. I agree with you that only someone on the ground in Leticia/Tabatinga is going to be certain to have accurate information at this time (and it will have to be another tourist; no one from that area hangs out here), but the boats won't be running any LESS than three times a week, and you've allowed plenty of time to get on one. I think worst case scenario you'd have to wait three days, and you'd still get to Manaus with a couple of days to spare. Be sure you get your entry stamp from the federal police in Tabatinga before you go.

I myself would not want to take a fast boat all the way from Tabatinga to Manaus--I took one about half that distance once, and it was pleasant, but I was very glad to get off--close quarters, no leg room, constant noise from movies or forro music or both.

As previous posts mentioned 'definatly dont take a fast boat' as it will be an uncomfortable ride all the way to Manaus.

Worth considering is breaking the journey in the town of Tefe which is one of the largest settlements between Leticia / Tabatinga and Manaus. You could take a boat to Tefe first and break the journey their for a couple of nights before continuing on to Manuas. If you happen to be pushed for time then you will find daily flights between Tefe and Manaus, which I think departed around 1pm when i was there. There are also fast boats that depart daily in the early hours as well as slow boats. A quick google search will give you more info on Tefe. Worth considering is a slow boat to Tefe then if pushed for time a fast boat or flight on to Manaus

Having just done a quick search on this website there are two flights a day at 14.05 and 18.00 hours with a flight time of just over an hour. Assuming you are either English or Italian the flights were coming through at 76 pounds or 94 euros one-way for travel between the 9 and 13 of June. The plus with doing the flight is you will get to witness the Amazon from a totally different perspective.
