Las Penitas

Looking into where to stay at Las Penitas. Considering Hotelito Oasis, Barca de Oro, or La Samaki.

Anyone have advice on picking a place to stay?

we stayed at Barca de Oro. it was nice. laid back. $20 for a room with 2 single beds, private bath.

la samaki is the only place in town with internet :)

oasis looked ok too. they were on the main beach. there's a side beach that's less crowded. oh what am i saying? there was like 20 people on a huge beach in early january.

las penitas rocked!

I too stayed in Barca de Oro but visited La Samaki as well, and ate in both places. I would be happy to stay in either. Same prices.

Stayed at Oasis. It was fine. $15 for double....$20 for the rooms on the beach.

I had a great time in Las Penitas. It's a great backpacker destination. I recommend staying in the dorms of Oasis ($6). DON'T go to Playa Roca--the American owner (Cookie) is cheap, strange and possibly a bit racist towards the local Nicaraguans.
