Wondering if anyone has been successful in quickly getting on some kind of Lake Nakuru tour by showing up in Nakuru town without a reservation. I'd like to take public transport to Nakuru from Nanyuki after climbing Mt Kenya and want to avoid going back to Nairobi to arrange a tour. Also, are there direct matatus from Nakuru to Narok? Cheers. Jon
Yes, you can get a matatus from Mt Kenya to Nakuru. But you will need to do it early as sometimes the matatus wait long. There are matatus from Nakuru to Narok, but tiresome. You may need to do it in stages, by taking Matatu to Naivasha, then to Narok. If you are heading to Masai Mara, you will need to take to take another matatu from Narok to Sekenani gate. Take note you may need to spend the night in Narok so you can leave with day light following morning. In short, if you are trying to do a budget travel, its not worth the headache and includes a risk. Its better to team up with budget campers from any Nairobi operators where everything is arranged and your safety guranteed. Pk | 1
I believe you can simply hire a taxi in Nakuru town to take you through Nakuru NP. | 2
Hi JonMW, Yes, it is very easy to do a safari in the Nakuru NP on a short notice. We have done it a year ago and it was easy. You may find details about my Nakuru experience at my site . Enjoy your trip. | 3
Nice website, Vaclav. You did exactly what I'd like to do. Seems you got a very good deal too. Thanks for the info. Jon | 4
Hi JonMW, | 5 | |
Hey Jason, Jon | 6 | |
Something else that may be of interest to anyone following this post... There is a daily matatu from Narok to Talek gate at 2 pm. Got this info from Aruba Camp's manager so I think it's reliable. Jon | 7
It is better you organise to hire a small car, even if it means i find one for you, since the game drives are very necessary especially at maasai mara.Ok. | 8
