Koh Tao in October

Country forums / Thailand / Thailand

Hello. I am going to be traveling in Thailand for the month of October and would like to spend time in the Islands. Basically I am looking to do a bit of diving and snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, yoga, and some partying. Koh Tao seems like the ideal place for me except for the weather.

Any advice on the wisdom of spending a couple of weeks there in October? Is everything going to be closed? Will there be many people there?

Also, does anyone know of other islands with similar vibe to Koh Tao in Thailand or SE Asia in general that will have better weather in October?

Thanks!

Hi !

I live here on Koh Tao - monsoon usually hits in November. October is usually good. You might get a bit of rain and some overcast weather but on the whole it should be good. The diving is usually ok too and you have a good chance of seeing whalesharks at this time too.

The island is certainly open and there will be people here too - Koh Tao never 'closes"

One place I would recommend for a nice bargain evening meal is Sensi Paradise. Its a shortish walk from the main street along the path. I have stayed there twice and we ate there every night as the food is so good and the setting is superb. It's the last resort southwards on the main beach and the view in the evening of all the lights from the harbour is fab. If it's not too busy you can have a table out on the edge of the rocks.
