Hello!

I'd like to get a kindle sent to South Korea, but I was curious about an import tax... Some people have had to pay it and some haven't... is there any way to get around the import tax if I get it sent straight from Amazon or is it best to get it sent to Canada, and then here??

It won't matter whether it is sent directly from Canada or from Amazon. Any package may be subject to import taxes. My suggestion is to find someone who is traveling to Korea and ask them to deliver it or mail it to you on arrival.

You might want to ask this question on an expat forum for additional ideas.

Get someone to send it to you, and tell them to write the value of the contents at about $15, then you'll avoid paying the tax.

it will ship to korea from amazon.com though you will have to a $15 or $25 customs fee (I'm not sure) Amazon will add it to the shipping price, think the total for a wi-fi only was around $180 (shipping and customs included) in the spring. they dont sell the one with the ads in korea

Well in korea the scope of assessment is 150,000won

So if u do that u might get a tax 10~25% (include item price + shipping fee)

So central exchange rate is now 1187won : 1$

So if the price is expencive then 126.36$ u will get Tax
