Know of any decent places to stay in Kas? Heard good things about the Hilal Penison

I am not sure about Hilal..
But personally I can recommend hotel la villa..
not hotel villa..
It is a 2 star hotel with nice panaroma... like the others on same street
price must about 50-60 euro for a double room inc. breakfast

Last month we stayed two nights at the Santosa Pension - 40 Lira for a double room with lovely new bathroom. Owner Deniz will pick you up from the bus station.

We did the boat trip to the undersea ruins at Kekova - a great day.

Kas is a nice town.

We drove by car from Istanbul to Antalya in early June last year. We deliberately missed the bigger places such as Bodrum and Marmaris. Fethye seemed like a nice town on the sea (based on a couple of hours visit). We stayed for 4 days at Kas (had only planned a couple of nights) For us Kas was the spot to stay. While now very much dependent on the tourism it has been able to retain a harbour village atmosphere. A great day trip is sea kayaking over the Kekova ruins.

We stayed at the Hilal Pension and thought it was great. From memory was 40 lira per room per night. Has an excellent location and outlook over the village. Suleyman the owner is a real gem – very helpful with local info and things to do. Dinner on the terrace overlooking the harbour is fantastic (and listening to the evening call to prayer echo around the surrounding hills).

I found the guys at the Hilal helpful and pleasant. And the owner of the Santosa most annoying - he came up to us as soon as we got off the dolmus and wouldn't go away when we said we already had a booking.

Which just goes to show, I suppose :-)

Didn't like Kas much personally - 5 or 10 years on the wrong side of the line where tourist development gets out of hand, IMO. Concrete eveywhere.
