Jungle rafting with Deep Rainforest

Country forums / South America / Bolivia

Hi every one,

I hate to do internet but I thought it would be fair to write some lines about my experience with Deep Rainforest Expeditions on the Jungle Rafting ending in Rurrenabaque that i definitely recommend.

Our tour started midday from a Bus terminal outside La Paz. the trip was ok but a bit scary at some point whre the cliffs are very high, that takes about 20 min and the rest of the bus trip dusty with great scenery. Arrived late at night at Gunay and were received by our always happy guides Ruben and Raúl who took us to a hostel.
Second day before we get on the raft had breakfast that included rice, beef, eggs, salad and a cup of tea.
too much for breakfast! so if you like traditions, that's a good start.
On the second day once on the raft you find your way to be comfortable which I did and enjoyed it every day. After a couple of hours we had a walk along the creek and forgot to bring my sandals so I had to walk on painful stones to cross the stream. the waterfall where we swam is amazing and the experience fab. Then spent all afternoon on the raft, it rained a lot so we decided to sleep in a Village before entering the jungle where we wouldn't have any cold beer or coco cola.
We started the third day in the rain and that was a true experience, rafted all day long and our guides took some oranges and coconuts from a farm along the way, close to midday sun came out and stopped for lunch at a canyon where we could dry our clothes and swim for while. Camped out after another canyon and it was great to have the camp fire. we had a night walk and by the time everyone went to sleep we were all knocked.
Fourth day was more diverse and we swam many times in the river and walked in Madidi Park for 3 hours. Great walk that included a herd of 200 or 300 Chanchos de tropa (wild pigs). That night was amazing because the river was so calm like a lake and nothing disturbed the night but the howler monkeys early in the morning next day.
Fith day was another long day on the raft and scenery perfect, we were so lucky cause we saw capybaras, a cayman and many macaws, eagles, voltures & herons.
On the sixth day close to midday stopped at the park check post and were welcomed with a nice limonada fría.
Then we stopped for another 1.5 hour walk and had the Canopy Zip Line that is really cool.
Great food, good guides.

Worth doing it if you have a spare week for the Jungle.

Also flying back is great if you do it around midday with clear sky so you can see the amazon jungle and the Andes from the plane.
