Jordan in July

Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

I am coming to visit a friend in Jordan at the end of July. Are there any organized tours of Petra and other sites running at that time of year, or do I need to find a guide and a driver?

Thank you for your help.

Anthony

You do not need guides for visiting most places in Jordan. I was there last May and visited many places alone.
You only need guides if you want to visit the sites away from main routes of Petra, in Wadi Rum or if you want to hike in wild places.
To reach the places you want to visit, you can rent a car with driver if you dont want to drive or take a taxi. You have a friend who lives there who can negotiate this for you for good prices.

There is a daily bus to Petra from Amman and return
Goes early morning and returns around 4.30pm

Guides are available at the ticket office if you want one.
For most people they can manage on their own with a
good guide book.
