Jazz bar in central Zurich?

Hi Everyone,

I will be meeting with a couple of friends in Zurich Dec. 17th this year and I am trying to find something to do that night (restaurant followed by a jazz bar preferentially). I've scoured the music venues in Zurich but haven't been able to find any simple jazz bars or venues that are playing jazz on that night. My friends are in their 40's so i am looking for something that fits that age scene. Does anyone know of a place like that around central zurich (preferably Kreis 1 or close by - since we are all arriving that day) where we could listen to some good jazz (doesn't have to be famous or anything) and get some drinks? Thanks you!

On good place for Jazz is the moods club.

At the 17th there will be a band called Traktorkestar playing.
The make a kind of Balkan-Swiss crossover in very jazzy way.
That is not actually traditional Jazz music.

A other Jazz bar is the more underground Bazillus but as far I see is
nothing scheduled at the 17th December.

Maybe a Bar that would come close to your tast would be the Casa Jazz bar.
But that is closed since May this year! (It was the website said)

Thanks for your suggestions! I have looked at the Moods club but its a $25 cover as I recall and not very close. Since we're going more for the atmosphere and less for the music/artist itself, I was hoping for something closer and cheaper. Are there any bars around the central area that have live music as a background (preferable jazz or something chill)?

The Hotel Central has a pianist in the bar at some nights. But is a very expensive place too.

About the price: At place with live music is 8 chf or even 10 chf for a bier nothing unusually.
People in Zürich pay those prices without rising a eyebrow.

The moods is a 12min tram ride away from the Central. Especial with the new station, that will be then in operation (Schiffbau). Don't forget Zürich is a small city. Everything is close.
