| redish13:37 UTC28 May 2007 | Further proof that the wider Western world is waking up to the beauty of Asian women? Man drought on horizon, nail down a man quick, Falang chicks.
| |
| chanchao14:28 UTC28 May 2007 | Well, what can I say.. She's a babe. :)
About time that an Asian woman won it.
Personally I don't think that they're waking up, seen far too many Indian and South American chicks win it lately.
Also, of course these elections are completely doctored beforehand..
| 1 |
| somebodyelse14:38 UTC28 May 2007 | Here we go again.
List of Miss Universe winners I see a Japanese woman won in 1959.... and a Thai in 1965. Hardly proof that the Western world is only now "waking up" to the beauty of Asian women. The previous winner on that list was Canadian, the one before that Australian...
You seriously think that a highly commercialized beauty contest result supports your theory that the attractiveness of the entire female population on this planet can be rated according to their nationality? You seriously need to wake up (and grow up) Redish...get a brain transplant.
| 2 |
| rhcp14:45 UTC28 May 2007 | Ms Japan
| 3 |
| bangsue14:55 UTC28 May 2007 | redish didnt have sex until he went to asia. he doesnt know that its great in the rest of the world also.
| 4 |
| somebodyelse15:00 UTC28 May 2007 | I just checked out your link RHCP.... No WONDER there's never been a Scottish winner...they have to dress up in national costume too apparently! LOL.
| 5 |
| Persona_Non_Grata15:13 UTC28 May 2007 | She can't be Japanese, she's got straight legs.
Most the Japanese tourists we see tottering around Rome couldn't stop a pig in an alley.
| 6 |
| Kananga15:47 UTC28 May 2007 | #6 What was it you called someone who makes a gross generalization about an entire nation of people?
Think it began with b and ended in t with igo in between. ;-)
| 7 |
| Persona_Non_Grata16:17 UTC28 May 2007 | You'd have to demonstrate that my observation was wrong before telling me it was an generalization.
Don't mistake an observable trait for an assumed trait.
If I observe something it is not assumed.
.. now what do we call a prohibition of observing?
| 8 |
| Kananga16:30 UTC28 May 2007 | A generalization doesnt have to be wrong to be a generalization. It's still a generalization.
No one is prohibiting you from observing anything so please don't call the police. However, unless you have personally observed most Japanese women and that more than 50% of those women had bow legs it is incorrect of you to make this statement without it being an assupmtion.......She can't be Japanese, she's got straight legs.
I am more than happy to believe that you have observed the legs of many Japanese tourists, however they do not constitute the majority of Japanese women as the majority of Japanese women have not even been to Italy, let alone had their legs fall under your watchful gaze.
| 9 |
| Persona_Non_Grata16:40 UTC28 May 2007 | Apart from pedantry, do you have other hobbies?
Perhaps the observation of Japanese tourists I see here in Rome are reconfirming observations I made when we lived in Japan.. indeed, when I come to think of it, they do.
| 10 |
| callippo17:01 UTC28 May 2007 | no winners at all from any of the Central Asian countries - the only region of the world with none.
| 11 |
| Persona_Non_Grata17:06 UTC28 May 2007 | ^ There you are then, a generalization on the beauty of Asian women unravels.
| 12 |
| callippo17:09 UTC28 May 2007 | here's the regional breakdown
Europe 13
South America 10
Central American and Carribbean 9
North America 8
East Asia 6
Australia / New Zealand 4
Africa 3
Middle East 2
South Asia 1
Central Asia 0
| 13 |
| chanchao17:12 UTC28 May 2007 | > no winners at all from any of the Central Asian countries - the only region of the world with none.
Miss Taliban in her national costume wouldn't be overly revealing would it.. :)
| 14 |
| bangsue17:14 UTC28 May 2007 | is it a rising trend towards the east away from the west maybe?
| 15 |
| Persona_Non_Grata17:36 UTC28 May 2007 | Perhaps central Asia is missing out because they are exporting all their beauties elsewhere.... Miss England 2006 Hammasa Kohistani came to the UK from Tashkent, central Uzbekistan.
And I might add the first time we've had a good looking Miss England ... ever.
| 16 |
| coraldiver118:00 UTC28 May 2007 | Central Asian women are pigdogs. Pity the Jap girl didnt speak out against the Japanese Whaling fleets. Zong a Jap, save a whale!
| 17 |
| coraldiver118:06 UTC28 May 2007 | Czech Rep looks like a Tranny and Thailand looks like a bargirl.
| 18 |
| coraldiver118:42 UTC28 May 2007 | China, Finland and USA are nice. What happened to Sweden? How could they not have a hot chick amongst it?
| 19 |
| callippo19:33 UTC28 May 2007 | lol yeah the Thai one definitely lookis like she got to Mexico via Pattaya.
here's the East Asian ones.
China
Indonesia
Japan
Korea
Malaysia
Philippines
Singapore
Thailand
I think the judges made the correct choice.
| 20 |
| irishrover19:51 UTC28 May 2007 | >20. Nice selection of Totty there .
| 21 |
| mrsteve3820:41 UTC28 May 2007 | Korea's Honey Lee does it for me! (In my dreams...)
| 22 |
| Kananga20:51 UTC28 May 2007 |
Quote
Apart from pedantry, do you have other hobbies?

I wasn't being pedantic, I was only originally making a joke based on your previous comments on generalizing entire nations of people (comments which one could actually describe as somewhat pedantic). Don't be so defensive.
To be honest, the fact that you like to look at Japanese womens legs isn't a bad thing. Next you will be telling me you buy those packets of school girls pants from vending machines. ;-)
(FYI a comment followed with a ;-) sign means I am only joking and you dont need to get all uppity or defensive.
| 23 |
| Kananga20:59 UTC28 May 2007 | Miss Philippines has by far the best surname.
Not sure why Miss Singapore is wearing an Ao Dai as her national dress.
Dont know what part of Pattaya you have found but Miss Thailand hardly looks like an Issan power dwarf. She has a nose for starters. And she's over 5ft.
| 24 |
| hetman20:59 UTC28 May 2007 | Miss India was my winner. Japanese women have best legs. I have conducted many studies over many many years.
| 25 |
| Kananga21:08 UTC28 May 2007 |
Quote
Japanese women have best legs.

Heh. So one of you needs to get your eyes tested. Hehehe.
| 26 |
| coraldiver121:53 UTC28 May 2007 | "A generalization doesnt have to be wrong to be a generalization. It's still a generalization."
What an idiot.
| 27 |
| ticotim21:55 UTC28 May 2007 | Miss Japan was my favorite all along....classic and sexy!
| 28 |
| hetman22:22 UTC28 May 2007 |
Quote
Heh. So one of you needs to get your eyes tested. Hehehe.

This comes after many years of scientific analytical research, you tend to forget I am a trained professional. Where is Prof Farts?
| 29 |
| Kananga22:30 UTC28 May 2007 | Farty is in Bangkok. Saw him a few weeks ago.
| 30 |
| mrsteve3823:14 UTC28 May 2007 | The good Prof could well be reading this as we speak....or he could be sat in a bar with an enormous guitar and a chicken bucket on his head.....
| 31 |
| ribblerat23:25 UTC28 May 2007 | Well they are all babes in my book, but Miss Japan has the edge on the rest....
| 32 |
| somebodyelse23:29 UTC28 May 2007 | How come the conversation has somehow veered off onto professor fart? He may have silky long black hair but frankly I don't think he would have stood a chance of winning Miss Universe. The girls are all MUCH prettier even if the Thai one is 5'11 (???) and the Chinese one looks as if she might have a slight squint.
| 33 |
| moobie03:08 UTC29 May 2007 | MissNorway seems to break the stereotype of that country.....
But I think Miss Venezeula would definitely get my.....errm, vote?
| 34 |
| Hacky05:23 UTC29 May 2007 | Somebodyelse-another Thai, Porntip Nakhirunkanok winner of 1988.
The Japanese seems too much of a doll face to me. The Thai (Farung) one looks ugly-sorry.
One of a judge is Tony Romo?? What the hell he knows about Miss Universal beside pig skin.
| 35 |
| thaibeachlovers07:18 UTC29 May 2007 | Japan will never replace Thailand as it is way too expensive ( unfortunately ), but yes, the women can be amazingly GORGEOUS.
| 36 |
| thaibeachlovers07:21 UTC29 May 2007 | Anyone else think the Singapore entry looks like a Katoy ( or Kaytay )?
| 37 |
| somebodyelse15:30 UTC29 May 2007 | Is "katay" the way they say Katoey in Singapore or just how Australians pronounce it?
| 38 |
| thaibeachlovers18:40 UTC29 May 2007 |
Quote
Is "katay" the way they say Katoey in Singapore

Yes. ( phonetically- K A I T A I ) At least it was back in the 1970's. ( Ah, good ol' Bugis Street; you shall live on in our memories ).
| 39 |
| Kananga19:23 UTC29 May 2007 | #39 You're showing your age. You should see bugis now.
| 40 |
| ticotim01:35 UTC30 May 2007 | Again.....the ladyboy stigma dogs another thread...
| 41 |
| thaibeachlovers02:26 UTC30 May 2007 |
Quote
Again.....the ladyboy stigma dogs another thread

Answering the same old weather/ accomodation/ etc questions gets boring, so why shouldn't we have some entertainment? If you don't like it, don't read it. Stick with the above for a really "groovy" read, yeah baby!.
| 42 |
| proximo03:49 UTC30 May 2007 | And the Mexicans show their true colors one again by booing Ms. USA. What's worse, is during the last olympics they chanted, "Osama, Osama, Osama", over and over when the US played Mexico in soccer (footbal). But of course they put on a happy face when you're a tourist. I'll never go there again and waste my money on a bunch of two-faced haters.
| 43 |
| callippo12:55 UTC30 May 2007 | I met an alien from one of the inner planets in Nana Plaza once that honestly thought that 'I hate America' and 'Visa, please' in Spanish meant the same thing. Easy mistake to make, I put him right in a couple of minutes.
