ITUNES HELP NEEDED

I'm currently trying to transfer some CDs in to MP3 format and have created a playlist but how do I erase it? I have looked through all the options and can find no way of doing it. I know that I have done it before some months ago but I am at a complete loss now. Can anyone give me some step by step instructions please?
