Itenarary for Jordan in April - Tips/Suggestions/Travel Partners ??

Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

I am Planning my long awaited trip to the Middle east consisting of Jordan, Egypt and Israel somewhere around the mid of april.
Total duration would be 3 weeks and would be having 6-7 days for Jordan. I know its too less but really cant help it !!!

This is the plan what i could think of reading Lonely planet, other sites and talking to some people ..

Day 1 Nuweiba(Egypt) - Aqaba(Spend day there) - Wadi Rum(take the last bus or the first one next morning)
Day 2 Wadi Rum (During the day) .. Leave For Petra during evening/Night
Day 3 Petra
Day 4 Day in Petra; Then Move to Amman during mid-day… Night in Amman. Don’t need too much time in Amman because in any case we would be transiting on Royal Jordanian when going to Egypt.
Day 5 Day Trip early morning to Dead Sea.
Day 6 Early Morning to Jerash. Stay in Jerash/Irbid.
Day 7 Early Morning to Umm Qais. Then Head back to Amman and Leave for Tel Aviv.

Does this look fine or there is something i am missing ... Different people might say different things but its good to know all the options.
Please feel free to comment on this or give me suggestions and definitely tell me if i have included something which is not worth or maybe spending more than time needed for a place.
Anyone traveling at the same time ? Any localite fancying some coffee/drink/sightseeing ?

Peace

Ari

You are going to have some problems with transport on Days 1 and 2. The last bus bus from Aqaba to Wadi Rum leaves at 3pm (15h00) which is before the ferry arrives, there is no early morning bus, and there is no bus from Wadi Rum to Petra in the evening. There is no bus at all from Aqaba to Wadi Rum on Fridays.

There is a morning bus from Wadi Rum to Petra, leaving at 8.30am. The last bus from Petra to Amman leaves at 2pm.

You will be using taxis a great deal, for the rest of your time in Jordan as well.

You mention Israel... with no details at all except that you expect to be there in April. Are you aware that April 20-26 is Passover? This could make things rather difficult. It's peak holiday time and everywhere is booked up months in advance. Unless you have a particular reason to be in Israel then, you might want to organise your trip so as to avoid this holiday. Note that there is NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT in Israel on April 18 from sunset until April 20 until after dark, as well as the usual Sabbath shutdown.

ahhh the bus timings indeed look like an issue now.. so Ruth, we would be two people, how much would the taxi cost ? can we get a shared taxi as well ? or any other mode ?
Do you thing the rest of the plan is doable. I just realised that the Dead sea might be better from the Israel Side so might just skip that here.

Shuffaluff, i am aware of that period. Most likely i would be in Israel first week of May. Thanks anyway.

I will have to get a pre-arrival visa and for that i would be needing hotel bookings or invitation from a local person. Is there a way around to this ? I dont want to book in advance because i dont want to go with a fixed plan :(((
