Is the India Volunteer Visa now called Entry X 3 Visa?

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / India

Hoping to get some sound advise here.
I need a Volunteer Visa (as per the NGO where I will be living/volunteering) but it seems that the name may have changed? Based on my research I think it may be called Entry X3 Visa?
If so I can not find where or how to actually apply for it. There is loads of information on the restrictions for Entry Visa but I can not find how to actually get the thing! On the eVisa site under Business Visa there is an Entry Visa but I don't want to jump the gun and get the wrong one and create more hassle.

Maybe you have a suggestion for this or a different visa?
I will be in ....
India March - April (2 months)
Nepal May - August
India September - April (8 months)
Thanks for your help.

Nope to both. To volunteer you need an 'Employment Visa'.

You'll need to apply through the provider in your country.

Your profile suggests you are an American, in which case:

A 'EMPLOYMENT VISA' is available for travelling to India for the purpose of working in India, for an organization registered in India. An Employment Visa is granted to an employee or paid intern of an Indian company and to persons traveling to India for volunteer work with a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

Good luck.
