Is it a good time to travel to Tibet in early-mid Sept?Country forums / North-East Asia / Tibet
Hi, | ||
it depends on the area you want to go to. travelling across eastern tibet during this period will be wet, sometimes impossible with landslides and so on because of the monsoon season (until october). areas in the rain shadow of himalaya ( western, northern, central tibet ) are generally no problem in september. | 1
The first time I traveled to Tibet, it was during the first two weeks of September. I did the usual tourist route, around the Lhasa area, and then the highway to Nepal. The only time I had the least little problem, was in Nepal. About an hour after leaving Kodari on the way to Kathmandu, there was a landslide. The crew was already working on it, so I was only delayed for about 2 hours. All the while I was in Tibet, I only remember a couple of small rain showers, nothing serious. It rained quite a bit while in Kathmandu at the end of the trip. | 2
Western tibet was beautiful in september last yr for myself going to Kailash and Everest - great weather and sunshine | 3
