Iran into Armenia and Georgia-what are the options????

I understand I can take a once a day night bus from Tabriz but I don't travel well at night and sleep little even on VIP.

Are there any alternative ways of getting to the border and across during reasonable hours?????

I haven't done this myself, so I can't speak from personal experience, but:
There is a train from Tabriz to Jolfa that runs in the morning, but not every day. It takes about 3 hours. Of course you'll also be able to find buses/shared taxis for that leg of the journey. From Jolfa, you will need to take a taxi (or a shared taxi) to Norduz, i.e. the border, which you cross on foot. There are apparently no marshrutky from Agarak (the Armenian side of the border) to Meghri - you'll have to take a taxi. (I've read reports of some taxi drivers - and unofficial taxis - trying to extort high fares from tourists, so make sure you keep access to your luggage and definitely agree on a price beforehand.) You'll then have to spend the night in Meghri (unless you manage to get a lift further north, e.g. to Kapan).
According to Lonely Planet, there is one daily bus/marshrutka from Meghri to Yerevan, leaving at 9am (and it takes about 9-10 hours). It will be far less comfortable than a VIP bus, but you will be travelling during the day... ;-)
From Yerevan to Tbilisi, there is a night train (it runs daily during the summer months). There will also be plenty of marshrutky during the day.
