Inappropriate political commentCountry forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Turkey
I know, I know... not the place for political discussion. Just wondering. When do internal developments in a country start becoming travel-related (allowing modproof comments)? Never, as long as plane and bus schedules remain reliable, ladscapes and climate patterns unaltered? Maybe. On the other hand, during the last days I couldn't get out of my head a peristent and annoying (although hypothetical) question: What if, in the proclaimed aim to roll back history (and, unfortunately, it's not only Ibrahim Karaguls paranoid vomit, no, it's a structural majority in the turkish society), as a first step the time is set, let's say, 100 years (101 to be precise) back? Still business (=travel) as usual?
When it affects travellers and not only locals. Example: Banning the sale of alcohol would affect many travellers, not only locals. Abolishing military service would affect only the locals. What do you/they mean by rolling back history 100 years? I don't speak Turkish and don't follow Turkish politic, but this sounds intriguing. Can you recommend any English sources? I don't think anyone would want to roll back history and it's pretty much impossible. Like what would they do? Bring back the Arabic script? Who would support that and what would be the point? Or making hijab compulsory or banning alcohol? Now, than would be a real revolution, and not only a coup, against the Erdogan regime ! | 1
If I could understand one word of your very convoluted thread then I would give you an answer. But I'll hazard a guess that #1 was correct in their assessment in their first sentence- | 2
There is no rational answer because the behavour of tourists is often irrational. | 3
Once again, thank you for your kind and sensitive contribution. | 4
But I'm not interested Billy.I just find it quite appalling-nay,disturbing even, that a seemingly intelligent person has nothing better to do with their time and appears unable to find something more conducive to their intellectual level than posting up time comsumptive, unanswerable ...drivel. | 5
There is this thing with taste. Different people find different things appalling. I, for example, find it apalling when someone, without understanding anything(?), becomes personal, rude, insulting and starts with name-calling, in an(other) show of forum-bullying. But who am I to spoil your fun? So, be my guest... | 6

But who am I to spoil your fun? So, be my guest... This is clearly an attempt to show that I am guilty of all of those things when it is very clear upon reading this thread that I am not.So now re-read what you just posted and start by applying it to yourself. | 7
