Ice trekking at Glaciar Grey.

Country forums / South America / Chile

Hey there. I'll be hiking the W at the very beginning of 2008. Interested in ice trekking at Glaciar Grey. Does anybody know which travel agency or tour operator I should contact? I understand that you can't do it by yourself, since you need a guide and of course crampons, but I may be wrong. I'll be spending the night of Jan 4th at Refugio Grey, so I would join the group there. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I lived there until last week.

go to www.couchsurfing.com
register yourself
do a couchsurf search for Puerto Natales, Chile
send an email to my buddy David Dittmar and ask him, he is a guide and does that kind of stuff everyday there.

I'd like to do the same. Apparently Big Foot doesn't offer them anymore (www.bigfootpatagonia.com appears to be completely outdated, the new website is www.indomitapatagonia.com ). CoushSurfing has been down for over a week, so I can't contact David... Any info about ice climbing?
Thanks

The company offering ice climbing is now called Rutas Patagonicas. Apparently no web site nor email yet, but they can be reached at +56 61 613874.
