Hurricane, can I travel?

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Philippines

Dear all,
I was planning on flying to manilla next sunday 25th oct.
Should I cancel my flight or is it possible to travel other parts of Filipines and skip Luzon.
My plan was travelling for 3,5 weeks. I'm flexible in my itinerary. And only booked first night accomodation upon arrival in Manila.
Many thanks for your advice.

Yes of course you can travel. Philippines gets about 15 typhoons each year and it doesnt shut down after each one. Its not the last Typhoon you need to think about, its always the next one coming..

I'll be arriving in Manila only 3 days after you. I was pleased to see the weather forecast last week that forecast the imminent typhoon. I knew that whatever happened, it would be over by the time I got there.

the Philippines may get a lot of typhoons, but they don't get one every week.

always keep an eye on the weather forecast in the Philippines, no matter where you are in it. That goes for all times of the year.

Hi callippo,
Yeah it will be gone by the the time we arrive, but i hope it does not leaves us with a lot of rain. As i was planning a relaxing holiday with a lot of beachtime :-)..
Anyway i can always change plans and skip north of luzon.
Have a great time in filipines.

Thankfully now the sky is blue, not a cloud in sight, gentle breeze, very hot and the beach is waiting..

😄 that makes me happy. Keep the sun there.

Hehe will do my best..

Typhoon Callippo is forecast to arrive in Manila in about a week where it will stay a little while and then go up towards Subic for the All Saints holiday.

then it will slowly return again briefly to Manila, before abruptly changing course and heading incredibly fast down towards the Visayas.

Heres hoping it doesnt cause to much chaos, and doesnt bring the rain or excessive wind! bring only sunshine and a light scattering of Tobelrones....

9

the typhoon may bring a somewhat excessive rain of 15 peso Mars and Snickers, Fudge and Twix and Twirl Cadbury chocolate bars from the sky, but that it is never a problem for Filipinos. They can live with it.

Don't forget to get your hair cut BEFORE you leave Manchester mate...

11

Callippo...what is it about the Phils that you like so much over the rest of SEA?

12

the haircuts. My hair is now so long, I'm hoping they might think I'm a hippie at NAIA and forcibly cut it like they used to do on arrival in Singapore, without me even having to pay 30 pesos in Tondo.

OO, keep it that way!10 days and counting...plan is to spend a couple days in Cebu city, then up to Bantayan. Still room at the Inn? Should arrive on the 6th I'm thinking.
