Hungary - Croatia - Montenegro - Bosnia in 2 weeks? Possible?

Country forums / Eastern Europe & the Caucasus / Croatia

Hi All,

Me and a friend are travelling to Hungary - Croatia - Montenegro - Bosnia in early september to mid September. Neither of us have ever been so we would really appreciate anybody's help on a few tips on which places to visit in Croatia.. So far, this is our itinerary

Budapest (two nights)
Zagreb (one night)
Zrce/Novalja (two nights)
Hvar (two nights)
Split (two nights)
Budva (two nights)
Mostar (one night)
Sarajevo (two nights)

I'm not all about partying, i enjoy hiking, scenery culture & museums, but i also am looking for the best places to party so that I can squeeze in a few nights in there. I am open to reshuffling the islands on the croatian coast, but I am not sure where the best spots are around September. I hear July & august are the busiest, so thats what pushed me to September but is it a good choice?

What about Monetenegro ? Is Budva worth visiting or should I extend some days on the coast or in Bosnia.

IF any body has better ideas for my itinerary, please share..

Thanksalot !!!

Possible to physically do the journey, but not enough time to see much or party much. You say you like hiking, culture and museums as well as a few nights partying. Why not give yourself time to do that. I think you need to cut out at least 2 destinations at a minimum. Otherwise you would have physically been to the places but seen and experienced nothing.

Thanks for your response.

I agree that I should take out a couple of destinations, Im thinking of skipping Zrce/Novalja and maybe Budva. Where do you recommend for good nightlife on the croatian coast in September? Is it dead around that time ? Also, any good links on how to rent apartments/hostels on the coast? Any tips on renting apartments/hostels? We also plan on driving, do you think we will face any issues driving into Bosnia or Montenegro from Croatia? Do I need an International driving license or can I just use my canadian license?

Thanks again !

Budva is a wonderful place, I would avoid skipping this, if possible!
