How old is an older traveller? Are we talking 40 plus?
Hi, If you have to ask, you don't belong. This has been asked countless times here (research) too many different opinions to list. I know for a fact that many younger folks (what's younger) pop in to glean info from much travelled older guys, and guyesses. For info I was 40 plus a zillion years ago and regard that age as positively youthful. | 1
Ha! Ha! ... at 40 you don't know enough to be 'old', maybe stale, but not 'old'. | 2
Life begins at 50. | 3 | |
At 40+, I felt ancient, burdened by work and family responsibilities with little hope of travelling except for the odd couple of weeks here and there but now at 58, I felt like a spring chicken. Ready to begin a journey of being an 'older' traveller. :) | 4
Hi, 58, 58? Get off these pages you young interloper. Never darken the doorstep again. These are the older travellers pages you know. I never even got near them until my 60's and still felt like a kid. Still do now come to think of it - much to the disgust of grandkids and great grandkid. | 5
Oi, you! You are just jealous because I discovered this site when I was 52 and now at 58, decided it is time to gather my courage in my hands, quit my job and travel to my heart's content. lol 3 nights to go before retirement and six nights before taking off like a spring chicken. | 6
Damn kids today! Buy t-shrts made by Fruitm of the Loom, along the way...:) Wash 'em alone in the sink a few times b4 gambling on ruining other clothes. I'm 72. Half the reason I travel is for the oither geezers from elsewhere. So its hostels for me. I've only gotten mad in two dorms out of many. Some kids have never shared a room b4. Some dorms I had all to myself. three nights at least at each stopover. that only gives you two whole days, to peel the local history onion. :) And you'll want second conversations with some folks from??????? Keep it simple. | 7
44ltr pack is a god's plenty. AIN'T NO LUGGAGE RACKS Like Kinky Friedman said about living in his motor home, | 8
Welcome friend 40 still in nappies 50 still in short trousers 60 long trousers 70 striding over the hills 80 striding over the hills with a stick 90 striding a little more slowly over the hills 100+ dreaming of striding over the hills or sleeping under them | 9
Question (by telegram) 'HOW OLD TOM JONES?' Answer (next day) 'OLD TOM JONES FINE - HOW YOU?' | 10
I'm sixty four and would never think of being confined to the Older Travellers branch. I have noticed, in the past on TT, some younger people who think that, if they think someone is older (it was never addressed to me) that person should only post on older travellers. Sad really. | 11
Hi, To be honest poster No.11- I think that maybe you are to young for here he he. Just being a bit cheeky here ref the OP "How old is an older traveller? Are we talking 40 plus?". Surely 64 is the new 34? It would appear therefore that you are simply a younger, welcome visitor here. | 12
Haha, Brax - that's how I feel. Life's too short to spend it in pigeon holes, at any age. But I did have a most wonderful and inspiring dream last night - all the result of the brain using a mixture of past travels, life experiences and much wide reading. I woke up glad I was old enough - and had seen and known so many things - to enable the brain to create such wonderful "sleep entertainment". | 13
Too stale? Who that's a little prickly. Welcome to you too! | 14
