How much money for a month in Iran?Country forums / Middle East / Iran
Hi all, for the people that have recently been to Iran, I would like to know how many euros I should take for my October's trip, ¿1000€, 2000€, more (hope not)? I have no idea how prices are, hope to get the new LP guide before going. Thanks in advance for your help and greets.
Hi iker_vit, Have you try to budget, as in te exemple below? | 1
I think the OP needs to know prices with which to build up a budget. I can't help, but, at the moment, neither can anyone else, as we don't know and so on. Give us some clues! Martin | 2

Hi again, yeah, I knew I had to be more specific as soon as I posted this thread, :-))) Well, mostly I would never go to luxury hotels, I usually go to hostels and maybe some cheap hotels sometimes, I would also like to stay in a mousharkadef or however it is written... I like wandering and exploring the country and, depending of the place, maybe getting some activity, like a desert trip or guiding for trekking in mountains or visiting a place that is better to go with a someone who knows, but not the whole time in activities with operators, mostly independent. Of course, I travel by land always that I can, buses, trains, whatever, depending on time or so, maybe I could take one internal flight to Teheran in case I am lack of time, but normally I plan quite well overland. I hope that you can tell me something more with this indications. Thanks a lot for your help and greetings, Iker | 5
Hi depends how long u r staying. The average meal will cost u between 5-10 euros in decent restaurants. Public transport specially if u use shared taxis or buses between towns are very cheap. Air fare can be expensive ie Tehran -shiraz return is approx 60 euros. Hope u enjoy u r time there. | 6
sorry didnt see u were staying one month. Take 2000 if i were u. | 7
Thanks boyracer, I will follow your advice, any special recommendations when carrying so much money? When travelling, maybe divide it in a couple or three places necessary? Safe to leave most of it in a hotel while in a place? Greets. | 8
Hi, | 9 | |

hi i was in iran for 9 days and i spend a total of 210 pound sterling and that was inclusive of a flight ticket that i bought from shiraz to dubai for 65 pounds. i got by with staying in hostels and also eating mosty street food which is cheap and hot. they have guys selling stuff like aubergine stew which is great and costs only 10,000 rial in the cities and the same dish costs abt 4000 rial in small towns. also kebabs are not all that expensive. also nearly everywhere there are bakeries producing hot bread and thats cheap too. i go by the idea that if something is really hot , it should be safe even by the road side and if they are many ppl eating there and it is a crowded shop than i will eat there. i only went to proper restaurants twice , wish i had done more actually as the experience is great, the food and the people watching you can do. travelling by train is also cheaper than bus and it is probably more comfortable. my sleeping compartment in the train is half of the bus fare from kashan to yazd so try to use the train if possible. the travelling times may be weird though but a lot cheaper than buses. i didnt find the buses all that comfy anyway. with that budget i even managed to stay at a nice hotel in esfahan, iran hotel. the hotel itself was great , breakfast was good and the guys at reception were very helpful. have fun venga | 11
I took US$1200 cash and came home after 3 weeks with 300 clams left and I didn't skimp on anything. | 12
