Hotel Recommendations in Cuzco

Country forums / South America / Peru

One more question regarding our dance group's trip to Peru this August. We will be spending two nights in Cuzco and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for relatively inexpensive, but good hotels in Cuzco. We do have a few younger dancers (11 - 14 years old) so would like something that is suitable for them.

Thanks for your help!

Not to discount the TT, but why don't you also post your questions at www.tripadvisor.com on their Peru forum. There a few people there who regularly answer questions with some good, sound and reliable advice.

Try www.incamahostel.com is a budget accomodation with really nice people and good facilities.

Maybe check out Loki Hostel, with your group, you could fill a couple of the dorm rooms and they have private rooms as well. We stayed there a few months ago for a week and staff were the most helpful and hostel had best atmosphere. We enjoyed the nights when they put on dinners, one was typical Peruvian food.

I warmly recommend Hotel Niños. Very comfortable, clean, with a lovely patio, comfy beds, HOT hot showers (not just lukewarm like most hotels), safe, centrally located. The profits go to their own long term projects for undernourished Peruvian kids. Read more on their website (click the button for English). Book in advance; they are popular and usually fill up.

I don't know what you mean by 'younger dancers'... I don't suppose you're letting your kids go out clubbing on their own??!

I strongly second the recco for Hostal Ninos!

Two minor inaccuracies in prev post -
1- they support an orphanage which currently has 400 kids... and several schools and a restaurant for kids in Cusco.
2- their two hostals aren't exactly centrally located... but not remote (like Loki Hostal) either. Ninos 2 where I stayed was about 7 blocks from plaza.... Loki is probably 20 blocks...

No, Niños has its own 4 childrens' restaurants where 500 undernourished kids eat every day. The kids also get homework lessons, warm showers, doctor and dentist support etc. Niños do not support an orphanage as far as I know; they have their own projects. The owner Jolanda did adopt 12 street kids 10 years ago but they've grown up and all live independently now. Niños also have other minor projects such as a girls' family, supporting various operations and studies, and they only employ Peruvians so as to support local economy.
(I have been financially supporting their projects and reading their newsletters for nine years; apart from the hotel's income they also use donations.)

As for the location of their hotels, well it depends on what you call central but in a city as big as Cusco I think 7 blocks from Plaza de Armas (or about 4-5 blocks if you're in the first hotel) is very central.

Anyway, a very pleasant hotel to stay in, and you can visit the childrens' restaurants after hours.
