Hostel and Tour Questions

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Vietnam

Hello,

I think I have finalized the hostels I will be staying at in Vietnam, and wanted to get some feedback before making my reservations. In Hanoi, the Manh Dung and in HCMC, the Giangson and Honghan Guesthouse. Any feedback about either would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Halong Bay tours out of Manh Dung Guesthouse, and in HCMC is Delta Adventure Tours or Sinh Cafe more recommended for Mekong Delta tours and Cao Dai day tours?

Thank you in advance.

-Jack

Going on Cao Dao and Tunnels tour tomorrow with Sinh Cafe. Maybe can better advise you then.
But come highly recommended.
The booking service today was first class-very professional- as good as any Western country

We did the tours with the Original Sinhcafe 246-248 DeTham, Q1, Ho Chi Minh City. Tel: (08) 8367338 - 8376833 - They were excellent and very cheap!

Halong bay is better booked with a reputable agent rather than through a guesthouse. We did our tour of Halong Bay with Handspan and they would be arguably the most highly recommended of all the tour groups. They are not cheap at $97 per person but definitely worth every cent. Other agents in Ma May st have also been recommended on TT, try This thread for more information.

Good Luck :)

I agree -- do the Cu Chi/Cao Dai trip w/Sinh Cafe. They do the trip a little bit differently than other places we looked at: going to the temple in the morning, and the tunnels in the afternoon (as opposed to the opposite). B/c they do that, you get to see part of a ceremony at the temple, which is undoubtedly the best part.

About the hotel, why don't you try to stay at Blue River Hotel which is near to Giang Son guest house but the price is cheaper and the staff are very kind and helful. It is a new hotel and very nice, about 13- 15 USD per day includes breakfast and free internet.
Rooms have a/c, tivi, fridge, hot water.

Did the Cu Chi/Cao Dai double today with Sinh Cafe. It was well organised, educational, informative and fun. See if you can get Son as your tour guide-great sense of humour
This tour also stops at a Handicapped Centre where you can watch the residents doing intricate artwork and later buy some of their handiwork if you wish.
Mass at Cao Dai is at 12noon and this tour catches the first half. Then lunch and then the tunnels. 8.15pm till 6pm $usd 5 plus 7000VND for the Tunnel admission
