Hip stylish places to stay in LisbonCountry forums / Western Europe / Portugal
Hi all, I wondered if anyone could recommend a cute/hip/boutiquey (but not too super expensive) hotel or apartment for four people to stay in the best most interesting/young/sexy part of central Lisbon. Any suggestions would be gratefully received! P.S I'm sorry to be so vague...
This is a hostel, but it's a cute, hip place to stay near the Barrio Alto: | 1
Thanks for the vagueness apology but an indication of how much you are willing to pay would help - "not too super expensive" doesn't do it since one person's cheap can be another's expensive. | 2
Thanks toasty – this is great stuff... I'll email 'Lisbon Poets Hostel' and get some pictures through from them of their interiors. I really like the the look of the Chiado area! And yes sorry stevegerms the vagueness of the price bracket was due to the fact that my mother is perhaps going to come along, which will means that we can probably afford something for between 150–200 euros a night, but that will need to sleep four of us... In three different rooms (My mother and her friend are wonderfully loud snorers!) So I guess it would be great to try and find an apartment for around that budget in the Chiado area (hopefully with interesting modern Portuguese interiors.) God loves a trier! Anyway thanks again all. This is one of my first ever posts and already it's been very helpful so far!! | 3
Hello again, try booking.com - I've used them many times, including for Lisbon, and they've never let me down. You'll find a huge range of accommodation, of all types, and you don't have to pay till you check out (usually). Additionally you can usually cancel up to the day before arrival at no charge should the need arise. | 4
airbnb.com Try this website -It has hip rooms all over the world, good prices and sometimes staying with people that can give you that valuable local knowledge! BB Edited by: bessieboo | 5
Thanks stevegerms and bessieboo – both of these websites are great! I think I've found the perfect spot on airbnb.com... You guys rock – thanks again and again!!! | 6
Try Solar dos mouros http://www.solardosmouros.com/english/ It should tick all yr boxes | 7
That looks totally fab, big thanks Blagger!!! | 8
Blagger's suggestion looks really nice - did you look at the price? €139for a double room plus €12.90 (90?) for breakfast per person - looks pretty super expensive to me. | 9
I paid 109 euros when I spent a night there in July, and that was the rate from phoning up the day before (they also had a slightly cheaper room I think). I found that perfectly reasonable. Breakfasts are always expensive in hotels, so I never take that option. In Alfama there are plenty of good cafes that are within a short walk of the hotel. A great one is a bio cafe called Pois cafe on rua Sao Joao da Praca. | 10
Perhaps they could get that price Blagger but they've got a maximum of €200 to sleep 4 people - don't see how that works. | 11
The bedroom I stayed in had a mezanine level with one or two extra beds (not sure which because I only had a quick look) in addition to the double bed in the main bedroom. Instead of room numbers they give them names so it was called "Graca" in case the OP wants to check with the hotel. | 12
