Hiking from Saratok to Alaudin (crossing the Kaznok Pass)Country forums / Central Asia / Tajikistan
Hiking from Saratok to Alaudin (crossing the Kaznok Pass): Does anybody know if it is possible to find a local guide and porter (maybe with a donkey), at Saratok - near Iskanderkul lake, - to join us for a trekking (2 days - or 3 days if not possible in 2 days) through the Fan Mountains? Day 1: In the very early morning hike from Saratok to the Kaznok pass (if not possible to cross the pass in the first day - sleeping in a tent at the foot of the Pass ). But if possible we will cross the Kaznok Pass already in the first day and sleeping in a tent on the other side) !!! Day 2: Crossing the kaznok Pass (if not possible in the first day) and further on to Mutney Lakes. Hike all the way to Alaudin Lakes and overnight in the IMTC Base Camp Alaudin - vertical. For these days we need someone to guide us and carry our luggages - porter or donkey (in total 2 backpacks - about 12kilo each). We are in a group of two pax. We don't have a tent with us - so, we need to hire on - also we need to hire crampons to cross the Kaznok Pass. We can/will guide us? Thanks.
Any of the small Zerafshan Tour Operators can help you with this trip. Supply Donkeys + Handlers, Guides, Tents etc ZTDA - Zerafshan Tourism Development Association has a homestay in Saratog & a field offfice in Sarvoda (where the turn off for Iskanderkul is). http://www.ztda-tourism.tj/en Umed speaks English, Russian & Tajik and can help with your enquiry. Zurmich also have good experience in trekking and I'd recommend them - though English not so strong they speak reasonable German. http://www.zerafshan.info/tourism-companies/zurmich. Regards | 1
Ashleigh, Thanks for your answer. Do you know the E-mail adress of the field office in Sarvoda (and also the office adress - or is it easy to find at the turn off)? If I can contact Umed or Zurmich by E-mail then it would be easy to make some arrangements in advance. Do you know how much it cost for the Zerafshan Tourism Development Association homestay in Saratog (room for 2 pax)? Thanks again. | 2
Homestays - prices not set yet for 2011. Last year they were $10 or $11. I think this year they will be $11 or $12. Including breakfast. No computer in Sarvoda. Better to contact Penjikent Office for advance bookings. | 3
