hiking/birding in La Amistad/Cerro Punta/Guadelupe

Want to go up to Volcan/Cerro Punta area from Boquete where we're staying now.

May not be able to find a place to stay one night (this Monday) - any suggestions for reasonably priced room? Los Quetzales has only dorm space - not into that.

If we can't find some place to spend night we want to make efficient use of our day trip - so would like current info on what trails are good (and open since flood/wind) and accessible via hardy little Yaris non 4 x 4.
