Country forums / Western Europe / Switzerland

hello all~
I want to visit Zurich for 5 or 7 days in Dec. but, I don't know anything about Zurich. this is my first time to go in Europe.
I really appreciate if you can give a any information about Zurich.
Visa, budget, cheapest backpacker's hostel and so on.
i have to go somewhere for renewing my visa in Kenya.
thanks all.

any information about Zurich

Visa

Should be accepted at most businesses that accept credit cards. If you mean an official travel document, you need to specify your country of citizenship. Better yet, Google for the Swiss embassy in your own country and read the details there.

Gosh. Too lazy to google "Zurich tourism", I guess?

And how should we give visa information? By guessing your nationality, or do you want us to give a summary of entry regulations for every nationality in the world.

If people would only engage their brains before posting here...

Fist some links about hostel:

Youthhostel
*****
This a very international place. A little outside the centre.
As Zürich is not very big this means not so much.
Near the the Rote Fabrik.

Langstars Backbacker
**********
A new backpacker place in the worst corner of the worst neighbourhood.
Don't get scared, a bad place in Zürich is still quit save.
Many former Strip clubs nearby are transferred to normal night clubs.

Biber Backpacker
*********
In the middle of old town.

About night life:
Zurich is very expensive place.
A night in town on a weekend with some drinks in a night club
can cost easily 50 CHF. (25 CHF admission and 5 to 10 CHF for a soda)
(1CHF is about 1.10 USD)
But to be realistic you should have budget of 100 CHF.

Food:
If money is an issue bring a hot plate with you.
So you can cook some pasta.
Food you can't eat nowhere under 15CHF.
