Help needed -- lost backpack in Nairobi

Hello all,

I need some help from someone in going through the Nairobi airport.

I just got back from Kenya and the airline left my baggage in Nairobi. Not only did they lose the baggage but they mixed up the baggage tags so they can't track it. I would be forever grateful to anyone who plans on being at the airport in the next couple of days and has a few minutes to look through their lost baggage section. I can't offer you much in return but I will offer this:

1) I'll reimburse any expenses this may result in. I can get money to you through paypal.
2) If this results in the bag getting back to me, I'll even throw in another $100.
3) Beer is on me anytime you're in northern California.
4) I will name my first born child after you.

So here's a description of the bag:

It's a green and black Mountainsmith backpack. When I checked it in it had a large stick, wrapped in newspaper, strapped to it's side (cheesy souvenir. don't ask) which may or may not still be there.

Whoever does this for me will have my undying gratitude.

Hi, what a nightmare!

It may be too far off but I'll be flying into JKIA on the morning of July 8th & will have time to kill so do not mind looking for it at all.

If someone hasn't found it by then I'll be more than happy to trawl through the lost luggage for you.

Hi. I am flying back into Nbo on Sunday. I will try to have a look for you. Although last time I came through JKIA it was a mess with bags everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who offered to help. I look forward to hearing from you all and I will, of course, update the thread if the bag is found so that others won't have to bother. If this works it will have totally restored my faith in humanity :)

Before one can recover your luggage they will ask the airline youd registered to travel with as might have appeared in your tags,security clearance will also ask whoever will search it the authority from you that the bearer of the details of your laggage will be the custodian of it till you have it.'cause anyone can claim it.A few questions and tips when i tried to assist!Let us all try. its noble to assist .Dont mind youll get it Tommer

Hello All,

Well, after the airline assured me that it was permanently lost and there's nothing they can do about it, my bag was promptly delivered to my door today. I have no idea what the hell happened or how the lines of communication at American Airlines got so screwed up but the upshot is that I miraculously have my luggage. This is by far the most amusing/miserable airline experience I've ever had.

Thank you everyone for volunteering to help. There's obviously no more need for you to trouble yourselves. Beer's still on me if you're ever in the area.
