| leanne181202:21 UTC05 Aug 2007 | Hello forum,
In early january I am hoping to spend 5 days in Bali with 7 members of my family. Hubby, son aged 17, sis and bro-in-law, nephew aged 23, my brother a 40 yr old peter pan who loves a drink or 10! and my mother, 66 and tee-total. The question is where would be a good place where we can all find some peace and tranquility when we want but also near to good restaurants and bars to keep my brother amused? Also any suggestions as to whether a private villa or hotel would be better value? I have researched a little and Nusa Dua and Sere???? seem to stand out at the moment, any advice will be most gratefully received, many thanks.
Leanne

It was in a quiet lane in the middle of throbbing Seminyak. Had 4 airconditioned bedrooms and a lovely pool. We nedotiated with the owner and got him down to USD 110 nett per day. That included the maid and the houseboy. I think my wife found him on the net at www.villadewa.com . I think she may have the owners number somewhere so i will check and post if we can find it. It was a short walk to the beach and was really in the heart of resturants and discos. But because it was on a little lane, it was perfect. Happy holidays.

I love the happy atmosphere, the great food in the different Indonesian restaurants (not the psuedo western ones) and the thrill of a good gamelan dance or two.
There are heaps of little places to stay, and the contacts you've been given sound good.
I always try and avoid the Javanese-run or owned places, and support the Balinese. I read recently that many of the Balinese places have signs up showing that they are locally-owned, but can't remember what they are. You'll soon find out if you ask!
I can't wait to go back there.
