HELP - Angel Falls Visit Advice

Country forums / South America / Venezuela

Hi All,

I hope there´s someone that can help me with a few questoions I have about visits to the Angel Falls.

I am travelling through South America with my boyfriend and we both really want to visit the Angel Falls as part of our trip. However, due to time constraints we´re having to limit our original itinary. In doing so we´ve decided to ´skip´ Venezuela and visit on a return trip at some stage in the future. But, we´d like to try and see the Angel Falls as part of this trip.

We´ll be in Columbia towards the end of June and then plan to travel down into Brazil, probably through the Amazon, to the coast (Belem, Salvador, etc).

Does anyone know if it´s possible to pay a ´flyinh visit´ to the falls on such a route, or enter in the south of Venezuela from Columbia or Brazil, with the intention of specifically visiting the falls?

Any suggestions, advice or experiences would be really appreciated.

Thanks all for your help in advance!

Maybe you've got a good reason not to head from Colombia through Venezuela to Manaus, then downriver to Belém and onwards...... in which case you'd visit the falls from Cuidad Bolivar. Otherwise, by road from Manaus to Santa Elena de Uairén, from where I believe you can fly to the falls (but you'll want to confirm that elsewhere). Both routes are obvious on any map. Your stated route is not so clear, at least to me.

Salto Angel is definitely worth seeing.....but so are a lot of places. No matter where you go, you'll be skipping numerous amazing sights. Make your choices, then don't look back.

Hope that helps.

Mark

Hola Applegarth,

As Mark pointed out the Angel Falls are amazing! Depend where you enter the country. If you enter via Boa Vista - Santa Elena de Uairen, in the south of Venezuela, you could fly from Santa Elena to Canaima on a charter flight, which is pretty expensive. Cheapest option would be to bus from Santa Elena to Ciudad Bolivar and fly out to Canaima from there. If entering Venezuela from Cucuta, you can get the night bus to Ciudad Bolivar. If I remember correctly it departs daily at 06:00p.m. (Please check up on this as bus schedules may have changed).

Travel safe.

All the best,
