Hazy days of Smaze!

I was wondering why the sky has been so hazy over the last few weeks..

If you live in Singapore or southern Malaysia,you get this all the time(during the dry)..people there are furious of course but can't do anything about it.Apart from wear masks or stay inside.

Meanwhile Indonesian farmers and companies continue to burn down forest/peat in Sumatra and Kalimantan, to clear land.

Lucapal, I know its been a big problem in Indonesia for a long time, but now seems to be affecting not only Malaysia but Thailand and Philippines as well. First time, I believe, though it has disrupted flights in PI. Be interesting to see if it gets much worse. Was on the beach today and visibilty is about as low as I have ever seen it on a "normal" day. Even suggestions here now that people should start wearing masks..

it has affected Thailand before as well as the usual victims of Singapore and Malaysia. But this is the first time I remember any whining about it emanating from the Philippines.

It's sad really and could have long term affects on the new airport being built in Bohol.

Think it may have been affected by recent weather conditions from the last typhoon, but seems at least 8 airports are affected so far, planes simply cant land if they cant even see the runway, unless like Cebu they have automated landing systems..

ha ha funny, smaze = smoke + haze! what isn't funny is how severe, old, and widespread the problem is. Actually wasnt too bad today, things seem to have cleared a little at least here in the Visayas but that might be simply because of the wind direction, apparently in Cebu City the cost of face masks has doubled in just a few days!..
