Havana airport hotels?Country forums / Cuba / Cuba
After browsing TT, I'm getting the impression that there is no such thing as a hotel near the airport in Havana.
There aren't any. | 1 | |
Asd #1 said, your browsing turned up the correct answer. Your option is to go into town, and then back to the airport the next day. If you have an in-country flight the next day, be aware that you will fly out of a different terminal. | 2
It's no big deal to stay "downtown." It's simple to pre-arrange a taxi to get you to the airport. | 3
There are casa particulares near terminal 1 if you are flying in from other parts of Cuba or flying out the next day from either terminal. If your on a tight budget you could save a little money....also the casas near the airport are not as expensive as in the city. A taxi from terminal 1 to terminal 3 is about $5cuc. | 4
The following two places, within about 5 km of the airport, have been recommended by other travelers. I have never stayed at either of them, although I have seen the grounds of Villa Cabanas Rio Crystal, which looked pretty nice. They are: | 5
POSHMCDOO: I have never found a LEGAL casa anywhere near the airport. Are the ones you know about licenced? If so, could you please post a bit more info about them? Like how to contact them--or at least the addresses? | 6
I agree with ttjpdo the airport Vip lounge works wonders if you have an early flight to catch...and the sofas are very comfortable and overal good service for 20 cuc | 7
20 CUC for the VIP lounge is a good deal--when you compare that to 20 each way for a taxi to the city, and 25 and up for a casa room. Not to mention the stress of wondering if the taxi is going to show up (if you have to be at the airport at some godawful early pre-dawn hour). I was always able to get a wakeup call in the VIP lounge--plus an offer to have my luggage carried to the check-in counter if I so wished. A breeze. | 8
Hey, Just a quick note. We stayed in the HOTEL LAS YAGRUMAS and it was not nice at all. The taxi there was $CUC 25 still (unfortunately we cannot speak spanish but did talk them down from $CUC 30). As backpackers we do not expect much but the place was average and the pool was filthy. Too make it worse we ordered a taxi with the reception the for next mornning and they "forgot". As the hotel is no where near anywhere it took 45 mins for a taxi to come. The staff were unapologetic and rude. We almost missed our flight. When we returned to Cuba from Jamaica, we found that the city of Havana was not much further from the airport than the Las Yagrumas. Much easier to get a taxi in the city as well and was only CUC$ 20 on the way back. Save the hassle, stay in town or the airport. Leonie | 9
