Harvest or Nomad Festivals early September?

Country forums / North-East Asia / Tibet

Hi, I notice there are Harvest Festivals ("Ongkor") that are said to be, rather vaguely, held "usually in September" but can't seem to find anything more specific. Any sort of festival in Lhasa area would be good but apparently Harvest or Ongkor Fest is special. Also I have heard there is a nomad festival around Nam Tso Lake around September but can't seem to get any more info than that. Any info or help? Thanks!

HI John

MOst of the Harvest festivals are in August but regional areas tend to do there own things. These festival are usually based on the Tibetan calender so dates change each year. Unfortunately I don't have any info for you. I've also heard of the Namtso festival but again do not know the dates. (these days the nomads are probably to busy renting their horses and yaks to tourists for 5 min rides and photos!!??
