Haputale help

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / Sri Lanka

Hey there all
Could anyone please help me out with the contact details for amarasinghes guest house and Royal top guest house in Haputale. Also any info on bikehire around there.

Thanks

Both great places. Royal Top has stupendous views from some of its bedrooms. I plan to stay at one or the other in early January.

Phone contacts in last LP are:
Royal Top 0094 57 226 8178
Amarasinghe's 0094 57 226 8175 or email to agh777@sltnet.lk

I am not certain these remains valid as the last edition is now a bit dated. If it comes to the worst and you cannot contact them you would probably get in anyway. very few places in SL are fully booked these days. Of the two I would say Amarasinghe's has the best known name - I have met a number of very happy customers. But RT is easier to get to from the train - just stagger about 50 metres from the train.

That is the correct number (or was last year) when we stayed with Mr Amarasinghe. Highly recomend his guest house, and great food as well. Just get a tuk tuk from the train station or if you don't have to much gear it is walkable.

Hi,

best information about this area at

Tourist Information Haputale or www.haputale.de

There are full descriptions of all guesthouses and hotels.
Some of them have also bikes for hire.

My best rest nature place with lovely family and spicy food?
White Monkey - Dias Rest

3 km from Haputale on the Dambatenne Road to Lipton tea factory.
Ask blue 3-wheel-driver Sampath how to find the way. He is a nice guy.

I have heard really good recommendations for the Dias Rest guesthouse before. I believe it is out in the sticks and the owners are amazingly helpful and experts on wildlife. Is that still true?

Yes they are. I guess you know how difficult it is to find a good friend and trustfull person. Dias is such a man. Together we made a 250 km walk from Horton Plains to Mahiyangana and a 600 km walk around the mountains to Trinco. Also some more hikes around the island. Enough time to learn about a man. Walking on his side was always safely, intersting and we had a lot of fun.

Dias wife Fareena is a very good cook (lost her dad last week/Mr. Hameed). Their 5 children are very friendly, helpfull and polite. There are some dogs, chicken and a duck with them.

And the rooms they have are the most quite, clean and by nature surounded places you can find all around Haputale. tea bushes from one side, a 700 m deep abyss to the backside and best views to all the tea factories, jungle, lowlands and coastline.
