Hampi in June?

Country forums / Indian Subcontinent / India

Is this place busy in the off season? what would the weather be linke in June, just days full of rain? How much time is worth spending there?

thanks for any answers

charlie

Early June - very hot (45 C) and humid.

are you serious? is that even possible?

I know that 32 C and humid is shite, I know that 36C and humid is intolerable. But 45C: its murder if its dry but humid as well?....Please tell me you are making this up.

not that I plan to go there in June smirk

Hampi will be hot and dry, but not humid. Most of Karnataka is on the Deccan plateau - that's why weather is usually cooler and much drier than coastal areas. The south-west monsoon usually starts around this time in Kerala so it may cool things down a bit. As a result it may bring a bit of rain too. 45 C is unlikely though.

""cooler" is a relative term, the Deccan isnt hot in June !!?? Iremember bijapur ,sholapur, belur halebid etc. at that time, too hot to move . June is prob. too early for any monsoon relief.

It was very dry when we were there, maybe in the 30sC but not 45, certainly.
It's a very relaxing place, maybe 3 days at least.
Lots of ruins to explore, many nice cafes and guest houses. Try the Mango Tree cafe down along the river. Very nice food and staff.

of course it is possible, although 45 celcius is an upper limit, not an average. And I wouldn't expect it to be humid. In late march last year there was a stretch when temperatures were already pushing 37 celcius. Whether it will be that hot when you are there .... ? Who knows.

Here's a link to current weather:

if you click on the city names you'll get forecasts for those places

Are you havin a go at me bluck? I haven't been to hampi yet, so i can't reply to your other questions. I do know about hot weather though and i found #1's reply a bit hard to beileve. My reply was intended to protect you, goddammit!

So you didn't like my smirk joke. Well if you stick around here for a bit, you may need to develop a thicker skin. I didn't mean to hurt you much, not at all in fact. Its not a stupid question that you asked.

Allow me to refer you here to see my usual form.

oldpro: I was incredulous about 45C AND humid. I am sure i have experienced 50C but not with humidity.
