Haida Gwaii self-reflection trip

Country forums / Canada / Canada

Hi all.
I'm planning to take a week to spend completely alone and do some self work at the start of September.
My instinct suggests Haida Gwaii, as I'd like to be near an ocean beach (I'm originally from Australia, so having a beach to myself doesn't seem unreasonable to me). But perhaps I might also be able to find somewhere on the west coast of Vancouver Island too.
My only requirements are land accessible without being near impossible (I expect to hitch at least part of the final stages, or walk. Not planning on having my own vehicle, but if I can't find a place that suits my needs without, I am prepared to bend here), aloneness and drinking water.
Currently my plan is to Greyhound to Prince Rupert, walk-on ferry to Haida Gwaii, maybe chat some locals up on the ferry who might have particular suggestions, or get off the ferry and head south and/or west.
Tofino/Uclulet area crossed my mind, but I suspect I'd have a harder time finding a place to be alone there or anywhere closer.
Thoughts and suggestions?

You might look at Cape Scott Provincial Park on the extreme northwest of Vancouver Island. Accessible from Port Hardy.

Coming to Haida Gwaii means many days in transit and the expense of getting here, and then depending on local people to transport you to someplace where people don't go. Going to a remote area of Vancouver Island will provide you with almost as likely a chance of solitude, for a longer time, at less expense.
