Guides for Brits

Country forums / Middle East / Iran

Hi
I know about the guide I must have, but how does this work?
willthey shadow my every move, can I go out for sunrise alone?
Do I have to pay for their room and food, can I choose the hotels?
Do I have to have an itinerary, if so can I change it?
How much is 1 going to cost daily?
I always backpack and like to do things on the cheap will this be a problem?

Hi
You have to have a guide in an organized tour, but, it's not that that every moment be with him or her and you can find a good guide so that arrange a tour as you wish . Normally it costs 120$ per day; accommodation is also on you.

actually it depends where are you from and what is your passport , Its not like that you say , in many times you dont need to hire a tour or an individual guide , in some cases maybe you need to say that I'm in a tour , dont spend so much money in tours , if you traveling in solo and backpacking do your way , if you need some help , im there ,

enjoy your trip

Hi Hemandnazzi
I am going to be travelling either on my British of Canadian passport, and am well aware that I need a guide, unless they drop this rule shortly.

I'm an American and booked a solo tour with a single person who was both my guide and driver. You will get quoted a price which includes fees for the guide and their hotel room and what is included-entrance fees, meals, etc. I was given plenty of free time to go off on my own, I'm sure all guides provide some free time but suspect mine was more willing since he has been guiding for so long. You will have a travel plan and hotels booked-this is a requirement for Americans, Brits, and Canadians. You can change what you are doing throughout the day but not where you are staying. Iran is not cheap for those who need a tour. I had a great time and decided it was worth the extra money and I learned a great deal by having an excellent guide. I used Key2Persia/Pars Tourist Agency. Someone else posted that they had a lousy experience. It probably depends on the guide, mine was quite good and flexible.

thanks souladventurer! I too am American and will be using Pars/Key2Persia later this year when I go to Iran. They tried to get me on the Glance of PErsia tour (8 days) but honestly I only have time for 5 days 4 nights and am opting to spend those days only in Tehran and Esfahan. Hopefully I'll be ok. When you arrived in IKA, did immigration ask you a lot of questions as a US passport holder? Did they require travel insurance?
