Good value accommodation in central OsloCountry forums / Scandinavia & the Nordics / Norway
Hi - I'm visiting Oslo for three nights with a friend at the end of May, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good, centrally located hotel or b&b? I'm not looking for a hostel/budget hotel, but something mid-range that is good value, clean, and comfortable. We'll have limited time to explore so location is key. Also, any additional suggestions as to favorite restaurants, bars, or whatever else is very much appreciated! Thanks so much for your advice! Claire
Hi Can you state an approx. budget? "Mid-range" in Norway and the UK might be very different things. Also, location is key, you say, but location in relation to what? W. | 1
Hi - I was thinking, ideally, somewhere around 100 pounds, but would be willing to pay a bit more depending on the place. In terms of location, I guess somewhere not super far away from the central station (since I'll be coming into there from the airport quite late), but close enough to the main attractions. So far, I've looked at Rica Travel Hotel and Thon Hotel Astoria. Saw that Cochs Pensjonat was rated highly on tripadvisor and seems to be in a good location (nice to be close to the park) but it also looks very basic, and that was around 95 pounds for their best room. Of the three, Rica looks the best I think? But completely open to other suggestions. Thanks! | 2
I don´t know much hotels in town, but the standard is usually good at all of them as far as I know. Don´t worry too much about location, as all distances within city centre is walkable. If you feel you waste your time on walking, buy a day-card for bus/tram/underground, which is 60 NOK. About things to do: take a look at the city guide by spotted by locals. You will find an overview over alot of great places which is appreciated by me and a few other locals: http://www.spottedbylocals.com/oslo/ | 3
To move around Oslo, the best deal is the Oslo Pass. It gives you free access to all city buses and public means of transportation (taxis and night buses aren't included), and also free access or at least discounts for most of the attractions. http://www.visitoslo.com/en/the-oslo-pass.49104.en.html | 4

The Grims Grenka fulfills all your requirements and is very well located - at Kongens gate 5, right in the centre. | 6
