Going Price for stay and 4 hour tour of Wadi Rum

Country forums / Middle East / Jordan

Hi All,

I just wanted to confirm the price for an overnight stay and a 4 hour 30 minute tour of Wadi Rum with you guys.

I have contacted a few groups and it seems the going rate is 60 JD person, making it a total of 120 JD for me and my partner. This seems quite dear to me, therfore before I booked I thought I should check.

Also, could anyone point out what I should look out for when I am booking this.

I have read about many instances of unpleasant experiences people have had in Wadi Rum, hence my concern.

Thanks

Hi, I'll make a couple points.

First you tend to get what you pay for. If you refer to the web site www.jordanjubilee.com you'll find several well respected Wadi Rum tour operators who run first class camps. Tourists who use first class camps tend to have very pleasant experiences. It's the tourists who look for the cheap camps that get a bad experience and then complain about it later.

If I were you I'd contact a couple tour operators recommended on the web site above and use them, even if they are a bit more expensive than you'd like.

Also, you will now probably be contacted by PM from some cut rate, scammer tour operators offering to give you a great tour at a low price. These scammers read the forum looking for posts just like yours so they can scam them. If this happens ignore the message and report them to the moderators so they can be deleted and banned.

Good luck. Wadi Rum is a great experience.

Hi bap9. Theprice for a jeap is not per person but per vehicle, so its only the overnight price that should be per person. This way you can get a breakdown of where your money is going. Also you can always find someone else to go along with to lower the jeep cost if you don't mind sharing. The 60 JD per person is about right, thats whats quoted at http://wadirumteam.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=377&Itemid=342. We are stayig with (though not going on a tour with) these guys and they seem nice.
Also, if you want to save money, there are numerous couchsurfing and workaway options to stay for free in Wadi Rum, but then obviously you dont have the service of a jeep or guide, uless your host takes you as a present. But you can hire a jeep for the day (8 hours) for 80 from the official visitor centre on arrival. For 4 and a half hours it will be less. It is possible to arrange any tours, especially now during the low season, upon arrival, either at the visitor centre through their official partners (with government set prices) or through any of the tour agencies in Rum village.

Hope that helps and have a good trip!

Also there is a 5JD entrance fee per person to Wadi Rum, you should check whether that is included in your quote!
