From Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan through Ferghara Valley

Country forums / Central Asia / Kyrgyzstan

Hi,
I’m travelling to Uzbequistan mid of April for around 10-12 days and, from there, I was thinking about going to Kyrgyzstan for 5-6 days. I have some questions about this, hoping somebody can help me: how is the situation to cross from Uzb to Kyrgyzstan through the Ferghara Valley? Is it worthy for just 5 or 6 days? Is it Kyrgyzstan now more or less stable in this area?
Thanks

hello,

There sould not be any worries on crossing the border. The south of Kg is stabel and some travelers have already vistited the south who came throguh the same route you may do. visit this blog for more inof on trekking possibilits in the south.

I came through this way a couple of weeks ago without much trouble. The border crossing from Andijon to Osh was quick and easy (no bag search and no checking of registration slips). I got up from Osh to Bishkek by share taxi quite easily. It seems quite tense in the area but I never felt threatened.

However, there are concerns that the situation will flare up again as the weather becomes warmer (people are more likely to come out on to the streets) so keep an eye on the situation!
