From Seoul

Country forums / North-East Asia / South Korea

Hello. My name is Kim. I live in Seoul Korea. If you need help to plan your trip to Korea I want to help you so I will answer your questions. I hope people can have good time in Korea.

I've always wanted to try dog. Can you recommend a good restaurant that serves this specialty? Also, where are the best places to go for frozen yogurt and fried chicken wings?

1

Nowadays dog restaurant is a liitle hard to find but you should look for bosintang. This is dog meat soup. I think Korean can help you find this place. You can look for 보신탕 There are many chicken shops in Korea because Korean likes chicken and beer.

2

What do you recommend to do on a 10 hour layover?

3

where can i play (beach) volleyball when visiting in october?

4

Maybe october is cold in Korea. I think you don't have to go to the beach.

You can visit Seoul but it takes one hour an half to go from Inchon airport to Seoul.

5

I fly from Helsinki and arrive at 8:00 am and want to go to Busan the same day (by train or by bus)
Do I need a reservation? or can buy tickets on the day of travel???

6

You can probably get tickets on the KTX to Busan on the same day, but it might be wise to book ahead just to be sure.

oranjefanka,

KTX bullet train is the fastest if and only if you start the journey from Seoul. You're flying into Incheon Airport which is 1~1.5 hours away (by airport shuttle) from Seoul train station.

There is an express bus service to Busan directly from the airport (see Incheon Airport - Bus) departing from bus stop 10C of the airport in every 2 hour - 08:20, 10:20, 12:30, 14:30, and so on. Journey time is apprx. 5 hours without traffic condition, and ticket is purchased on site.

Considering total fare and journey time, neither option will be advantageous over another, unless you fly all the way from Incheon to Busan in a hurry.

Hilow Kim, thank you very much, I am an exchange student in Seoul and I understand this weekend is the Thanksgiving festival and may i know are the shops opens? Cos since I cant travel out I might as well make the best use of my time..

Was wondering if the palaces are open as well as Lotte World and Ever land..

Thank you in advance :)

The actual thanksgiving day fall on the Sunday. Most things will be open on Saturday, and although most will be closed on Sunday morning, you'll probably find a lot will be back to normal by Sunday afternoon, although Seoul will be a lot quieter than usual. Not sure about the Palaces and things on Sunday, but they're probably open on Saturday.

Hi Mr Kim
We would like to visit Seoul,Andong,Gyeongju,Busan and Jeju island
Is this itinerary seems ok? Seoul ,day trip to Angdong,Seoul by KTX to Busan, day trip from Busan to Gyeongju,Busan to Jeju by plane or ferry then fly back to Seoul.
Is Andong and Gyeongju too far for a day trip?
Thank for any other suggestions
(We will spend 15 days in South Korea, still have to figure how many days in each place)
