from Samarkand to Penjikent

Is it possible to cross the Uzbek/Tajik border near Penjikent?
Earlier this year this border crossing was closed.
What is the current situation?

Unfortunately the border is still closed.

The rumours continue to circulate. Up until last week it was going to open on the 15th June. This week its going to open on the 15th July.

In truth it seems unlikely it will open this year.
