From Pakse to south and back

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Laos

Hi all!

May be i'am crazy, but I ask your opinion..
I'd like to visit in 2 days, from pakse, wat phou and the si phan don area, how can i do it?
Anybody knows if there are public transport traveling from pakse to dong khong and vv also in the afternoon?

Thanks a lot

Am I to understand you only have 2 days? Well I would go straight to Champasak. I would then spend time at Wat Pho & have a bang-up dinner overlooking the river. Next day hang around a bit more than go to Paske & bus it out.

There is a shuttle in Pakse at the Lankham hotel morning around 830 that goes to Don Khong and Don Det and turns around and does the same going back about 12-2.

You can catch a local bus for the southern terminal near the old market 2km from center of Pakse.

The best is to rent a good motorbike in Pakse !
I did it last summer: there is a rental of 250 ccm Honda endurobike in Hotel Lankham at the mainroad in town.
Its easy to rent it for more days, tere are good roads, you can take it over the river to Champasak, you are fre....
I got it for 4 days and visited some little villages on Bolevan plateau where tey have elefants to ride...

It was great - just do it! Price was 20 $ a day, but you are much faster then with the common transport and you can stop everywhere. Petrol is no problem and very cheap.
