I'm planning a trip with two cousins to Brazil in November of this year. We're planning on spending 4 days or so in Florianopolis. I've tried to find accomodation information online and in guidebooks, but the information so far is a bit confusing so I'm hoping that someone on these boards can help me out with some recommendations.
We'd like to stay somewhere mid-range, not a hostel but not a high rise resort either. Somewhere nice with some character. Also, I'm not sure which part of the Island to look in. We probably want somewhere close to shops, bars, etc but again, not a total tourist trap.
Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

we stayed in Florianopolis and had exactely the same problem. Nevetheless it's not a problem because there are a lot of locals who have accomodation available.
We rented quite cheap an appartment with three rooms and a kitchen from a family. They will approach you and they are quite easy!
